Different Types of Orthopedics: How They Can Affect You

Orthopedic conditions are becoming a lot more common and can cause a lot of problems when it comes to carrying out daily activities. You need to ensure that your body can cope with whatever is thrown at it. Here are some of the most common orthopedic conditions, and how they can affect your life.

Arthritis

Arthritis is one of the most common types of orthopedics condition and it affects more than 350 million people across the globe. There are over 100 different types of arthritis that can be caused by different things such as genetics or injuries – the two common types that people suffer from include osteoarthritis and rheumatoid.

Osteoarthritis affects the knees, hips back and neck and causes pain in the joints around your body making it difficult to get on with daily tasks. The pain caused by this type of arthritis happens when the cartilage rubs away from the joints causing the bones to rub off of each other. This usually affects adults who are 65 and over, however, it can still affect others who are younger or if you have had injuries to your joints, passed on by genes or through obesity

Rheumatoid Arthritis causes the joints to become swollen and sometimes stiff and affects parts of your body such as fingers, wrists and even your feet.  This kind of arthritis can become worse through time and can flare up randomly.

Osteoporosis

Another type of orthopedic condition that many people suffer from is osteoporosis which causes bones to become weak making them more susceptible to break. This kind of orthopedics condition affects people as it can make them more prone to hip and wrist fractures and can affect anyone. It is more common for women over the age of 45 to develop this condition than for men.

Bursitis

Bursitis is another type of orthopedic condition that causes swelling of a bursa (a sac filled with fluid) located under the skin and between joints and tendons. Bursitis affects the shoulder, elbows and hips of many people when they become inflamed making it difficult to move properly without being in pain. This condition is a lot easier to recover from as they can last between a few days to a few weeks. Make sure you are able to rest well and treat your symptoms so they don’t get worse and cause further damage.
